Meet the Team Blog: Kevin Fix
For this month's "Meet the Team" blog, we caught up with Senior Financial Advisor, Kevin Fix. Kevin started with Fullen Financial in 2018 and has been a financial advisor since 2011.
- What led you to want to become a financial advisor?
- I spent the early part of my career working in accounting and finance, mostly in the telecom industry. I got to the point where relocations, mergers and unfulfilling work led me to consider doing something else. Financial advice enabled me to use my planning and investing expertise in a truly meaningful way. It's a challenging line of work but one that is very gratifying.
- If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
- I would go to Berlin because my daughter is studying there right now and I'd love to visit her. Berlin is a fascinating city and now that she has been there for a couple months, I'm sure she would be a great tour guide!
- What was your childhood dream job?
- This one is easy…I wanted to be an astronaut. I was in kindergarten when astronauts last went to the moon and I vaguely remember watching the coverage on TV. Space suits, rocket ships, seeing the Earth from space; what could be cooler than that?
- What is your favorite part of the work day?
- My favorite part of the workday is meeting with clients. It's always great to catch up with people, most of whom we only see once a year, and we are blessed to have a great group of clients. Every client has challenges to overcome and not every conversation is easy, but it's great to walk with them on that financial journey.
- When you are not working, what do you like to do for fun?
- There are lots of things I like to do for fun but one of my favorites is going to see live music. Whether it's a big arena, a small club or the lawn at a music festival, I love the energy and the creativity, and it's a great way to spend time with friends. I also took up rowing a few years ago after my daughter joined her high school rowing team. It's a lot of fun and a really good workout.
- If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?
- Actually I'm pretty happy being in Columbus right now. This is becoming one of the best places to be in the Midwest, with the amenities of a big city, but still a very manageable place to live. If I were to leave Columbus, I'd probably move to the mountains out west, where there is more to do outside and more sunshine in the winter.
